26 July 2012 - Race Team Crew Opportunity
Nees Racing have just completed another race season at Woodford Glen Speedway and taken away various awards including winning the club points overall. We hope to carry on this momentum so are looking for another volunteer to join the crew on the 811 Super Saloon.
Based in North Canterbury we race out of the purpose built, multi-car preparation facility built by BRT. Assistance is required primarily in the workshop as we are currently rebuilding the car in preparation for a huge season.
The NZ Championships are being held locally plus the team are again competing in the ELF Super Cup series which is over seven rounds throughout the south island.
Nees Racing are a sociable team who try putting car reliability and the fun aspect of racing before chasing results.
A dedicated and competent person with an engineering background would be preferred. No race car experience necessary but a willingness to get “stuck-in” is essential.

Well the winter rebuild is well and truly underway. Aaron has stripped all the panelling from the chassis and I took the engine out of 811 tonight ready for tear-down and inspection. Les from Les Hunter Racing Products also called out to the workshop to check out the braking system. He was surprised how little wear there was on the entire system but he still took some calipers away for a rebuild which is very much appreciated. We need to tear-down as much of the car as possible to determine what requires replacing and/or repairing over winter. Pam & I are heading over to the states in June so hopefully we can bring a few goodies back with us. Meantime I'm already a bit concerned as to what racers get up to during the off-season. Check out what Luke Keegan was driving tonight in the last picture.

Just a quick update for ya's ... I got the diff back in the car tonight and now we are awaiting the return of the torque arm and the new lower suspension arms which Les Hunter Racing Products are making for us. Also had two right rear rims sorted this week by Elite Wheel Company, one repaired and the other required replacement. A new shock arrived from the states this week so I'm also learning how these go together now and over the next few weeks we will sort out how to set these up on the shock dyno too. Still plenty to be done like making the wheels white & shiney then assemble up with tyres. Once I get the rest of the rear end together I better take a look at the the chevy van which has a bloody exhaust leak to fix before we head to Dunedin & Cromwell next weekend grrrrrrr!!!

There's just no time for a rest when running a super saloon! Spent today getting the quick change out of the car as we discovered it was bent after our big crash at the NZ champs in Nelson. I was considering leaving it till the off-season as it is'nt badly bent but it got the better of me.
Plus I understand that more damage can be done if it's not sorted properly. Got some wheels and beadlocks to sort as well plus we snapped the rear bumper off last weekend. Not a biggy that one but it just shows how weak stuff gets after you straighten out prior damage.
Am looking forward to getting to Dunedin & Cromwell for the last two rounds of the Elf Super Cup. Gonna be awesome!

January 2012 - NZ Championships Nelson
A huge thank you to Garth of Creative Colours for opening his workshop for us. If it hadn't been for Garth we would not of been racing on finals night. A huge effort guy's which is very much appreciated. My Nelson crew team Joesph, Scott & Carl put in the hard yards to ensure 811 was ready to race. What a team! Thanks again fella's. What a weekend !!!

December 2011
Got the engine in bits again cos we have a blown head gasket dammit! Gotta catch a break at some stage I reckon. Anyhow we will get it back together and head off to the NZ Champs in Nelson in a couple of weeks time. Gonna be great to be part of the action so really looking forward to the atmosphere of the event. Before then we have the car on display at the annual Spencer Park Gala on New Years Day. Always a great event which we love to support.

Pam & I spent sunday after the Canty Champs cleaning 811 and stripping broken parts from the poor old girl. We need to either repair or replace the following: rear suspension mountings, jacobs ladder, two wheel beadlocks, fix the brakes, etc etc etc plus still trying to determine why the engine is mis-firing. So we've got a lot of work to do in the workshop prior to the ELF Oils Super Cup Series which starts in December.
Anyone out there wanna help out??? Give us a call if you wanna join a fun team.

We achieved a bit more progress on 811 tonight as the new season approaches. The engine is getting close to being ready to fire up and with some finishing touches to the car and the trailer we should be set go. We are still looking for a workshop helper to join the team so give Flash a call on (027)229-4644 if you think you have what it takes. Plus TOOLZILLA is still available on TradeMe for the racer who thinks he has everything!

It can be difficult to get motivated over winter but here at Nees Racing something is starting to happen again
. Fisrtly I must appologise for the lack of website updates but honestly there hasn't really been anything to report while trying to raise the neccessary funds for the new engine to be built. MP Performance have the engine short block ready to go and now we are just awaiting the new cylinder heads to be shipped from the states.
The Chevy van & transporter have been undergoing a bit of a make-over. Well I've been goin' a bit overboard on the transporter to be honest. The old girl is being upgraded somewhat with some new gear including LED lighting, floor lockers, onboard air supply, car jump start system, wireless remote control winch plus the ability to recharge the trailer and race car batteries while travelling. (I'm an idea's man apparently). Hopefully it will all work once I'm finished with it. LOL
We certainly hope 811 will prove to be reliable during the new season as we are already starting to plan our race calendar. It looks like we may even be able to tie in the final two rounds of the ELF Super Cup with the Air New Zealand Golf Nationals in Dunedin in March (fingers crossed).
Bring on the race season I say!!! ... Yeehaa
Cheers ... Flash.
P.S. If you have a spare moment please pay a visit to our "Professor" Jody at Burwood hospital. He needs comfort food and race car magazines. LOL
